{"id":115,"date":"2016-06-04T11:32:02","date_gmt":"2016-06-04T15:32:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stevenscherbinskiphotography.com\/?p=115"},"modified":"2016-06-04T11:32:02","modified_gmt":"2016-06-04T15:32:02","slug":"up-north","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stevenscherbinskiphotography.com\/index.php\/2016\/06\/04\/up-north\/","title":{"rendered":"Up North"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have a T-Shirt I bought someplace that says &#8220;Up North&#8221; on it.\u00a0 Someone once asked me where &#8220;Up North&#8221; was, and I basically gave an answer like &#8220;anywhere North of where I am now&#8230;&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-116 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stevenscherbinskiphotography.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSF2588-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"_DSF2588\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stevenscherbinskiphotography.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSF2588-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.stevenscherbinskiphotography.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSF2588-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.stevenscherbinskiphotography.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSF2588-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.stevenscherbinskiphotography.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSF2588.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Being in Traverse City last week, I had a chance to think about it, and I&#8217;ve come up with different answers.\u00a0 Not necessarily better, just different.\u00a0 Let me know what you think.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Up North&#8221; is a state of mind.<\/li>\n<li>A place full of top-down convertible Jeeps full of kids blasting music as they cruise down the main drag.<\/li>\n<li>Campfires, s&#8217;mores, water, beaches, lakes, parks.<\/li>\n<li>Shopping for t-shirts\/sweat shirts to prove you were anywhere but at work.<\/li>\n<li>A place where the population swells four times in the summers and the locals like it\/don&#8217;t like it.<\/li>\n<li>Anyplace you can turn off the world and relax.<\/li>\n<li>Someplace with &#8220;real&#8221; souvenirs made anywhere but where you&#8217;re at.<\/li>\n<li>A place with lot&#8217;s a art galleries full of (hopefully) local art.\u00a0 Some good, some not so good.<\/li>\n<li>A place where you eat way too much good stuff and don&#8217;t really care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to continue thinking on this for a while and add more when I can.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a T-Shirt I bought someplace that says &#8220;Up North&#8221; on it.\u00a0 Someone once asked me where &#8220;Up North&#8221; was, and I basically gave an answer like &#8220;anywhere North of where I am now&#8230;&#8221;.
